The Pittsburgh-based company argues that it should not be held responsible for Amanda Satterfield's cancer.Satterfield had mesothelioma, a rare cancer directly associated with asbestos exposure. Hardie offshoot to pay asbestos settlement

Mesothelioma Lawyer: A James Hardie subsidiary has agreed to pay an out-of-court settlement to a woman suffering from an asbestos-related disease. Anita Steiner, 45, is facing ongoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with mesothelioma in early May. Today, lawyers for Ms Steiner and Amaca, a subsidiary of building products giant James Hardie, decided on an undisclosed settlement before the case was due to go to trial in the Victorian Supreme Court.
